I met Piers at Sussex University. He was such a character, always smiling, very popular, kind and such a goofball! He was loyal and tolerant, unless you were criticising Spurs and always joking and singing. He loved being compared to Robbie Williams and yet never took himself too seriously. In the summer of ‘93 I had found a job in a bar in on the island of Kos when low and behold who should turn up with his crew of merry men… no other than Piers. I spent the next two weeks trying to talk my boss round from barring him from the bar for leading all the football chants and drinking the bar dry but it was absolutely worth it… even having to take the detour home to bed in the early hours to help the boys carry him back to the hotel room.
